Obituary

Obituary Mrs. Wilma Taylor was born February 7, 1936, in Little Rock, Arkansas to Annie Anderson and Joe Robinson. Wilma joined the Gospel Temple Baptist Church at an early age. She graduated from Dunbar Senior High School in 1953. She met her husband William in high school in 1950. They married December 30, 1954. After that their son Rickey was born. Bill joined the Air Force and was stationed in California. They traveled all over the world. Wilma was also employed by the Air Force as a civil service employee. Wilma retired after 33 years. For a period of time Bill and Wilma lived in Colorado, where they adopted their daughter Lisa.

In July of 1972 they moved permanently to California. They joined the Southwood Baptist Church in 1974, where she was a very active member. Wilma loved to sing. She was a member of the Mass Choir, Inspirational Choir, the Mission Chorus and a member of the Adult Choir. She was at one time the song director for the Sunday School. Wilma was the original member of the Special Events Committee, Vacation Bible School worker and Scholarship committee. One thing that Wilma loved to do was to visit and call the sick members regularly. She and Bill would take fruit baskets to the sick and shut-ins every Christmas and Thanksgiving. Wilma was a Community Watch Alumni for the City of Carson. She loved the theater. She and Bill made sure that they saw all of the plays that came to town by having season theater tickets. She led a very active life until her health started to fail her in recent years.

She left for her heavenly home on July 3, 2013. Proceeded in death by her mother, father, her son Rickey Taylor and two brothers, Robert Howard and James Anderson.

She leaves to cherish her memories, her husband of 58 years, William Taylor; one daughter, Lisa Taylor Brown (Darryl) of Los Angeles, CA; two sisters, Edna Abraham of Compton, CA, Barbara Ward (Elijah) of Little Rock, Arkansas; seven grandchildren, Brian Taylor of Los Angeles, CA, Captain Kevin Taylor of Omaha, Nebraska, Brandon McCoy of Los Angeles, CA, Jason Taylor of Fort Collins, CO, Brittany McCoy of Las Vegas, NV, Cortney McCoy of San Francisco, CA, Tiffany Taylor of Carson, CA; three great-grandchildren, Brian Taylor Jr. and Jaydah Johnson of Los Angeles, CA and Grace Taylor of Omaha, Nebraska; a special daughter-in-law, Brenda Taylor; as well as a host of nieces, nephews and other relatives and friends
