Melchisedec Thomas, Jr.
August 26, 1913 – July 20, 2013
Melchisedec Thomas, Jr., was born August 26, 1931, to Melchisedec Thomas, Sr. and Melinda Walker Thomas, both now deceased. To this union, eight children were born.
Mel, as his was called by his peers, attended Blackshear High School in San Angelo, following which; he served his country honorably in the United States Marine Corp, whereby he earned a Korean Service Medal and a United Marines Service Medal. After his military service, Mel worked for the City of Los Angeles for 38 years before he retired in 2000.
Mel accepted Jesus Christ as his personal Savior at an early age. On May 10, 1958, he married Emma Jean Wyrick, who preceded him in death in 2007. Born to this union were two children, David and Yolanda. Mel was a loving husband, father and a good provider for his family.
Mel is survived by his two children, David E. Thomas and Yolanda Thomas; three sisters, Morie (and husband Aubrey) Todd, Verlene Gill, and Vera Thomas; two brothers, LaSalle Thomas and Isaiah Thomas; along with a host of nieces, nephews, friends and associates. He will be truly missed.
