Gloria Evon Lee was born to Joseph White and Louberta Walker on April 5, 1929, in McComb, Mississippi. She was the first of two children, she had a brother D.Z. Walker, who preceded
her in death.
Gloria was affectionately called “Babe” as child and had a good life growing up. She went to school in Mississippi until the 8th grade, then her mother moved to Los Angeles, California in 1945, where she finish school at Thomas Jefferson High School.
Gloria received Christ in 1948 at Greater Olivet Baptist Church under the leadership of Rev. G. L. Bedford.
Gloria met and married Miles Lee in 1952. Miles preceded her in death. The union of 33 years was blessed with five children, Anthony, Sharon, Barbara, Melvin and Michael, and a stepson Edward Eugene Lee, which she called her own and love just as much as her own.
Gloria worked for Teledine Packard Bell Electronics for 15 years. After they closed, she
worked for IHSS and help older people. She loved that job and stayed with it until she
retired. Then she joined the Jarvis Senior Citizen Club, where she was membership chairperson for 15 years. She loved going and went to many places. She tried to make
friends with everyone she met. She loved people of all walks of life.
Gloria leaves to cherish her memory, four sons, Anthony, Melvin, Michael, Eugene;
two daughters, Sharon and Barbara; nine grandchildren; many great-grandchildren; and a
host of other loving relatives and friends.
