Fannie Mae McKenzie
March 09, 1920 – July 19, 2013
Fannie Mae McKenzie
Fannie Mae McKenzie was born on March 9, 1920, in Haynesville, Alabama to the parents of Thomas and Mary Finison. While in Alabama Fannie accepted Christ as her Savior. At the age of 13, Fannie moved to Barrackville, West Virginia with her mother and brother Sam Finison. She attended Dunbar School in nearby Fairmont. A few years later, she met and married John L. Walker and had her only child, Charles L. Walker before Christ called John home in 1974.
After Charles moved to Los Angeles in 1967, four years later Fannie relocated, as well. She worked as a nurse at California Hospital and enjoyed the company of her two grandchildren. She attended Metropolitan Missionary Baptist Church, and while there, she met and married Earlie McKenzie who preceded her in death in 2003.
Fannie was called home to be with the Lord on July 19, 2013. She is survived by her son Charles and his wife Marilyn J. Walker; one grandson, Charles W. Walker; one granddaughter, Marlynne A. Walker Powell (Joseph L. Powell II); her trusted and devoted cousin Antoinette Owens and family; in addition to a host of other loving relatives and friends.
